Lead With Your Best Photo
Your first photo is everything. It should be a clear, well-lit shot of your face — smiling, looking directly at the camera. Avoid group shots, sunglasses, or anything that makes it hard to see you clearly.
The 3-second rule: If someone has to think twice about which person in the photo is you, they've already moved on.
Write a Bio That Starts a Conversation
The biggest mistake people make is writing a list of adjectives: "I'm fun, adventurous, and love to laugh." Everyone says that. Instead, tell a tiny story or share something specific.
Instead of: "I love hiking and trying new restaurants."
Try: "I once hiked 40km with a broken sandal and still ate my packed lunch at the summit. 10/10 would do again."
The second version is memorable. It gives someone a reason to message you.
Show Range
Use your photos to show different sides of you — one social, one doing something you love, one that shows your sense of humour. Profiles with 4-6 photos get significantly more matches than those with 1-2.
Be Honest About What You Want
If you're looking for something serious, say so. You'll filter out people who aren't and attract people who are. Clarity is attractive.
Update Regularly
A profile with recent photos and an updated bio signals that you're actively engaged — not someone who signed up, got discouraged, and left.
